Freed

Freed stands for First Episode Rapid Early Intervention for Eating Disorders. The principle is focused on offering early effective intervention for those who are in the early years of their developing eating problems, usually within the first 3 years. EDS collaborates with SEDCAS (part of Livewell Southwest) to utilise this model of working with those age 18 – 25.

Research suggests that the longer the duration of illness, the harder it is to reverse the changes caused by eating disorders. Hence, early help means less chances of disrupting study, relationships and other opportunities in young individuals’ life.

It is an evidenced-based treatment, much more effective than conventional intervention. It helps clients to gain insight and can reverse the changes in their brain, body and behaviours caused by eating disorders.
