About Us

Who We Are

We’re a specialist community service supporting adults in Plymouth and parts of West Devon who are affected by eating difficulties.

We believe everyone deserves understanding, professional care, and a safe space to take their first steps toward recovery – no matter who they are or what their story looks like.

What We Do

We deliver high-quality, community-based support designed around what really helps people recover.

Our service offers therapy, practical guidance, and structured day programmes in an environment where you won’t be judged, pressured, or made to feel like you’re not “enough” of anything.

We work with adults experiencing eating difficulties – whether you need weekly talking therapy, intensive daily support, or help navigating the early stages of recovery. And we support carers and families too, offering advice and short-term therapy to help you understand what’s happening and feel more confident supporting your loved one.

Meet the Team

Our team includes therapists, dietitians, and practitioners who share a commitment to helping adults manage eating difficulties within a safe, understanding environment.

Our Story

EDS Plymouth has been supporting adults with eating disorders since 1995.

We started because too many people were struggling without suitable help or didn’t know where to turn. By offering specialist care closer to home, we’ve helped people access support earlier, more comfortably, and without the barriers that often come with traditional services.

Over the years, we’ve grown. We now have a Day Service, a dedicated team of therapists, dietitians, and practitioners, and we’ve expanded our support for families and carers.

But our purpose has stayed the same: to help people recover, prevent crisis, and rebuild their lives.

Who We Help

We support adults aged 18 and over in Plymouth and parts of West Devon who are experiencing eating difficulties or living with a diagnosed eating disorder.

You can reach us through:

  • A self referral (contact us directly)
  • Professional referral (via your GP or a healthcare professional)

You don’t need to fit a particular picture or have a formal diagnosis to reach out – if you’re struggling with eating or body image, we’re here to listen.

Get Involved

Your support helps us continue providing vital care for adults and families in Plymouth and West Devon.

Whether you’d like to donate, volunteer, or explore partnership opportunities, every contribution helps us reach more people who need our support.
