Work With Us

Join a team that makes a difference

Working at EDS Plymouth means being part of something that matters. Every day, our team supports adults across Plymouth and West Devon who are navigating difficult experiences, and the work you do has a real, lasting impact on their recovery.

Whether you’re working directly with clients or supporting behind the scenes, you’ll be part of a close-knit team that leads with empathy, shares a commitment to professional care, and understands the importance of creating a safe, non-judgmental space for everyone we support.

If you’re looking for a role where your work counts for something, you’re in the right place.

Current Vacancies

If you believe in compassionate, person-centred care and want to come to work knowing what you do matters, we’d love to hear from you.

Eating Disorder Psychotherapist

This part-time role sits at the heart of our service, working directly with adults experiencing eating difficulties.

You’ll manage your own therapy caseload, up to five clients per day, delivering short to medium-term therapeutic support, carrying out initial assessments, and contributing to our multidisciplinary team meetings.

You’ll also facilitate group work within our structured day programme, which includes supporting clients around mealtimes in a compassionate, non-clinical way.

We’re looking for someone BACP or UKCP registered, with at least two years’ post-qualifying experience and a genuine understanding of eating disorder recovery.

Trustee

As a Trustee, you’ll play a central role in how EDS Plymouth is governed, guided, and sustained.

As a Trustee, you’ll help shape the strategic direction of the charity, ensure we meet our legal and governance responsibilities, and play an active role in safeguarding our long-term financial stability. It’s a position of real responsibility and impact.

You don’t need a background in the charity sector. We’re looking for someone with experience in strategic leadership or governance who wants to put their skills to meaningful use. All professional backgrounds are welcome.

Board meetings take place roughly every six weeks, with the option to attend face-to-face or online, so it fits around your existing commitments.

To express interest or find out more, send your CV and a short cover letter to caragh@eatingdisorderserviceplymouth.co.uk or call us on 01752 228027 for an informal chat. Reasonable expenses are reimbursed.

Our Story

EDS Plymouth has been supporting adults with eating disorders since 1995.

We started because too many people were struggling without suitable help or didn’t know where to turn. By offering specialist care closer to home, we’ve helped people access support earlier, more comfortably, and without the barriers that often come with traditional services.

Over the years, we’ve grown. We now have a Day Service, a dedicated team of therapists, dietitians, and practitioners, and we’ve expanded our support for families and carers.

But our purpose has stayed the same: to help people recover, prevent crisis, and rebuild their lives.

Who We Help

We support adults aged 18 and over in Plymouth and parts of West Devon who are experiencing eating difficulties or living with a diagnosed eating disorder.

You can reach us through:

  • A self referral (contact us directly)
  • Professional referral (via your GP or a healthcare professional)

You don’t need to fit a particular picture or have a formal diagnosis to reach out – if you’re struggling with eating or body image, we’re here to listen.
